I always love recommending great values (aka wines under $20), but this time of year I often get requests for something a little more special. Here are 3 truly special wines that are sure to impress any wine lover on your list. We have an incredible wine selection right now in the store, so please feel free to stop in the store and let me help you pick out that perfect bottle.
Cheers! George

DOMINUS 2012

$225/bottle DOMINUS 2012The perfect wine for any Napa Valley wine collector. Dominus is no longer available at a wholesale level and we only have 12 bottles available. The estate is owned by the Mouiex family–owners of Chateau Petrus–considered by most to be the greatest of all the Bordeaux.

The wine itself got a whopping 98 points from Robert Parker. Full-bodied and opulent, with no hard edges, a seamless integration of acidity and a richness that will last for another 25-30 years.

CONDRIEU, DEPONCINS, 2012, FRANCOIS VILLARD
CONDRIEU, DEPONCINS

$79/bottle Villard makes some seriously stellar wines. Condrieu is considered to be the finest expression of the Viognier grape in the world. Villard tries to emulate the Burgundians in his approach to wine making. And guess what? He hits it out of the park! This is a wine that is meant to be savored. A very lush wine with dried peach and salted butter notes supporting papaya and mango flavors with a lovely mouthfeel. Condrieu has a long and bright mineral finish, too.

COTIE-ROTIE, LE GALLET BLANC, 2012, VILLARD

COTIE-ROTIE, LE GALLET BLANC$79/bottle Can you tell that I am a huge fan of Monsieur Villard? His wines are just that amazing. It’s very rare to taste Syrah with such finesse (think of some of the Australian Shiraz that you may have had, which are so overpowering). A true treat!
Again, Villard’s ambition to emulate Burgundy really shines through on this one. A tasty attack on the palate with hints of soaked cherries and other berries, but still soft, gentle and an overall charming and pleasing wine.
