Raise a (really) nice glass!

I always love recommending great values (aka wines under $20), but this time of year I often get requests for wines that are a little more special.

Here are 3 truly very special wines that are sure to impress any wine lover on your list. We have an incredible wine selection right now in the store with wines for any budget, so please feel free to stop by and let me help you pick out that perfect bottle.

The perfect wine for any Napa Valley wine collector. Dominus is no longer available at a wholesale level and we only have six bottles available. The estate is owned by the Mouiex family–owners of Chateau Petrus–considered by most to be the greatest of all the Bordeaux.

The wine itself got a perfect score of 100 points from Robert Parker. Full-bodied and opulent, with no hard edges, a seamless integration of acidity and a richness that will last for another 25-30 years.

I’ve been a huge fan of Rhone Valley rockstar, Francois Villard, for years. He’s even been to the store for an off the charts tasting a few years back. He makes exquisite Syrah, but he is arguably one of the best producers of Condrieu in the region. Wines from Condrieu may only be comprised of the white grape Viognier.

Villard’s Le Grand Vallon sports some power with mango and papaya notes forming the core. His wines are expressionistic, firmly structured and this is no exception. With a long, juicy finish it’s a show stopper.

What happens when the three partners behind Plumpjack and CADE get together for their third project? Incredible wines are made! More specifically, really incredible Cabs from the Stags Leap District, which produces some of the most award-winning Cabs in the world. Wines with power and grace.

The 2014 Adaptation Cab redefines approachability–a fusion of fruit flavors that include wild blackberries, sweet cherries and cocoa invade your senses. An exuberant mouthfeel with a fresh and lengthy finish.
